Why .NET sits in so many bank systems
Branch tools, internal portals, reporting services and integration layers in Gulf banks were often written in C# on .NET Framework. Many still run well, but .NET Framework no longer gets new features, and teams that maintain them are getting harder to staff.
Moving to current .NET brings Linux containers, better performance and long-term support releases. In a bank the move is usually done one service at a time, behind the existing integration layer, with parallel runs before each switch.
The companies in the listings
We read 41 companies in the GoodFirms UAE .NET listing filtered on banking, on 5 October 2026. The most common hourly band was $25 to $49 an hour (16 companies), and the median company was founded in 2016.
Declared industries are self-reported. For bank work, ask for a reference at a regulated institution and for the security documentation the company produced for it.
Hosting and security choices
Azure regions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi let banks run .NET workloads in the country, and many banks still keep core-adjacent systems on premises. A vendor should be comfortable with both and with the bank's release process.
Static code analysis, dependency scanning and signed builds are standard requests in bank tenders. Ask to see the pipeline the company would use, not only its policy document.
Is .NET a good platform for banking software?
Yes. Current .NET is used widely for banking services, APIs and internal tools, and it is supported by Microsoft with long-term releases.
Should we migrate from .NET Framework now?
If the application will live for several more years, yes, in stages. .NET 8 support ends in November 2026, so new migrations usually target .NET 10.
Can .NET banking systems run in the cloud in the UAE?
Yes. Azure runs regions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and banks decide which systems may move there under their policies and the regulator's rules.
Does Digital Unicorn do .NET?
C# and Azure are among the technical specialties on its La Fabrique du Net profile, and its SparkPlan Voice work runs on Azure OpenAI. Its finance references include Days Legacy, a wealth-management platform, and the Cyrus client portal.
How long does a .NET migration take?
From weeks for a small service to many months for a large application. Ask for a migration plan per component before accepting a total.
